ÉCLAT - INVERTER, BATTERY, LIGHT OUTPUT AND DURATION CALCULATORS

AS A GENERAL GUIDELINE: -

STANDARD FLUORESCENT LAMPS [COMPACT OR LINEAR] CAN RANGE BETWEEN 4 AND 105 WATT.

NICAD CELLS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE IN 1.2 Ah, 2Ah, 2.8Ah, 4.0Ah, AND 7.0Ah.

NICAD BATTERY PACKS USUALLY CONTAIN FROM 4 TO 19 CELLS (OR A SUITABLE COMBINATION OF QUANTITIES TO MAKE UP THE REQUIRED NUMBER OF CELLS.

REGULATORY STANDARD REQUIRED MINIMUM LIGHT OUTPUTS ARE: -

20%. GENERAL AREA LIGHTING.

50%. ESCAPE ROUTES AND CALL POINTS.

100%. HIGH RISK TASK AREA LIGHTING.

REGULATORY STANDARD REQUIRED MINIMUM DURATION TIMES ARE: -

30 MINUTES. (HIGH RISK TASK AREA LIGHTING.)

1 HOUR. (GENERAL AREA LIGHTING.)

3 HOUR. (GENERAL AREA LIGHTING FOR BUILDINGS HIGHER THAN 10 STORIES INCLUSIVE OF BASEMENTS.)

CALCULATOR NOTES: -

FOR INVERTERS UP TO 112, IN CONJUNCTION WITH 4 - 80W LAMPS, EFFICIENCIES ARE CALCULATED AT 15% LOSSES FOR INVERTERS AND AN ADDITIONAL 10% LOSSES FOR BATTERY DETERIORATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE. THE EFFICIENCIES CAN BE CHANGED WITHIN THE RELEVANT BLOCKS .

FOR INVERTER 116, IN CONJUNCTION WITH 58 - 105W LAMPS, EFFICIENCIES ARE CALCULATED AT ONLY 5% LOSSES FOR INVERTERS AND AN ADDITIONAL 0% LOSSES FOR BATTERY DETERIORATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE. I.E. ENTER 95% WHERE THIS IS REQUIRED. THE EFFICIENCIES CAN BE CHANGED WITHIN THE RELEVANT BLOCKS .

THE REQUIRED NUMBER OF CELLS WHERE INDICATED, SHOULD BE ROUNDED UP TO NEAREST CELL.

IF THE RESULTS DISPLAYED FOR THE REQUIRED NUMBER OF CELLS RANGES LESS THAN 3 AND MORE THAN 19, THE CALCULATION WOULD REQUIRE RE-ENTRY OF VALID OR DIFFERENT DATA. TRY INCREASING THE LIGHT OUTPUT OR TIME DURATION, TO INCREASE THE REQUIRED NUMBER OF CELLS, AND VICE VERSA FOR RESULTS INDICATING MORE THAN 19 CELLS.

FOR THE 104 RANGES OF INVERTERS CURRENT CONSUMPTION FROM THE BATTERY PACK IS IN THE ORDER OF 1 AMP. FOR THE 105 - 305 RANGES OF INVERTERS, THE CURRENT CONSUMPTION FROM THE BATTERY PACK IS 2 AMP. FOR THE 106 - 116 RANGES OF INVERTERS, THE CURRENT CONSUMPTION FROM THE BATTERY PACK IS 4 AMP. THIS VALUE CAN BE ENTERED IN THE RELEVANT BLOCKS.

DEPENDING UPON THE REQUIRED LIGHT OUTPUT AND DURATION, THE INVERTER WHICH IS DISPLAYED WILL BE ABLE TO OFFER THE CORRECT LIGHT OUTPUT AND DURATION. IN SOME CASES, THE RESULT WILL OFFER A POSSIBILITY OF 2 INVERTERS. IN SUCH CASES, SELECT THE ONE WITH THE LEAST CELLS - IT OBVIOUSLY COSTS A LITTLE LESS!
