ÉCLAT 40 HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE LAMP, EMERGENCY PACKS

THE PATENTED ÉCLAT 40 will allow any High Intensity Discharge Lamp (HID) to be converted into an Emergency Maintained Luminaire, thus allowing for an uninterrupted supply of Lighting in any environment.

ÉCLAT will convert any standard High Intensity Discharge lamp into that of an effective Emergency Luminaire, by utilizing it’s standard control gear.

The ease of installation makes this a simple and effective choice for carrying out Emergency Lighting conversions, with a versatile selection of enclosure mounting options being available.

The unit is supplied in a number of enclosure and colour variations to suit all environments and applications.

Conversion to Emergency mode is made simple by means of a plug in plug out arrangement, with different connectors supplied as options. It is however important to bear in mind that an uninterrupted power supply is required to feed the ÉCLAT unit, as is the norm with all Maintained type Emergency Luminaires.

All units are equipped with high quality, hermetically sealed lead acid batteries, which are maintained via an intelligent charging system, thus preventing battery overcharging and resultant damage.

All ÉCLAT units are protected against deep discharge of batteries, load short circuits, running into no load conditions, and overload protection.

All units are also suitably equipped to handle disturbances and harmonics on the mains supply lines, and are suitably suppressed to prevent the unit from causing disturbances on the mains supply lines.

Standard duration time for the ÉCLAT is one hour. Other duration times upon request.

The lamp is run at 100% of it’s nominal output, making application to the building layout as simple as possible. This is achieved by making use of the standard photometric data for the Luminaire to be converted.

If the unit if still operational when the mains power is restored, ÉCLAT will continue to run for a period of around two minutes, during which time, it monitors the condition of the mains power for reliability and stability, before allowing return of control to the mains. This prevents unnecessary switching of the Unit. (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)

ÉCLAT can also run a number of Luminaires in parallel. Any type of lamp including, HID, Fluorescent, Halogen, and Incandescent, and, which are equipped With any type of Control Gear. This is provided that the total load, including losses, does not exceed the specified rating of the unit to be used.

Options for ÉCLAT include the stand alone, Self-Diagnostic System (SDS), with relevant faults being displayed via an array of LED’s on the ÉCLAT unit. As standard, the unit is functionally tested for two minutes every month, and a full duration test is carried out every 6 months. During these tests, the battery, lamp and inverter respectively, are tested for correct functioning. The first fault found, will immediately abort any subsequent tests on the unit, and associated Luminaire.

The system can further be enhanced with the REMOTE-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM, (RDS1) where all faults are reported back to one central point, thereby making maintenance of the system as simple as possible. This is achieved via a simple 2 wire system and a dedicated power supply. This 2 wire system carries all of the digital data transmission to and from the ÉCLAT units as well as power supply to the actuators.

All of the actuators are connected in parallel on the system, and each actuator is equipped with its own code or identification number. At present a maximum of 3072 actuators can be addressed on the same system, and up to 1000 metres between any of the 2 wire system power supplies, and the last point of control. In the case of data transmission or receipt error, the same signal transmission will be repeated.

The design allows for very easy expansion of the system. This includes any other additional features, which may require monitoring by the user, e.g. condition of the conventional ballast. It is also possible to determine whether the power factor correction capacitors are in working order, by monitoring the current drawn by the circuit.

All programming, monitoring and diagnostics of the system, is via a simple desktop computer equipped with the appropriate software. From the computer, a printout can be obtained for diagnosis, maintenance, repairs and for the logbook now required by the SABS Code of Practice relating to Interior lighting, and in particular to Emergency Lighting.

With the (RDS2) BMS LINK, the units are supplied with two Voltage free contacts, which usually suffices to interface with the existing Building Management Systems, thus eliminating the duplication of monitoring Systems. All faults are then monitored and recorded by the existing BMS System.

With the (RDS3) CELL LINK, the System Status is recorded and logged every second. In the event of a fault being found, an SMS (Short Message System) is sent to, e.g. the responsible Maintenance Personnel’s Cellular Telephone, informing of the fault found, along with the Units Identification Number. All logged data is stored on a Computer. Up to 15 Megabytes of data logging can be stored. Once this maximum is reached, the oldest records are overwritten first, thus allowing up to date records being available at all times. A Cellular Link Base Station, which is supplied at a moderate cost, is however required for the System to operate correctly.

Further enhancements to the system include SUB-STATION EMERGENCY LIGHTING (ESU), PORTABLE UNITS (PU), REMOTE ON/OFF (RNF), EXTERNAL VOLTAGE SOURCES (EV), and SOLAR CHARGING SYSTEMS (SLR). In addition, a range of suitable Luminaires can be supplied upon request.
