The purpose of multi-sensor components in building technology is to facilitate the complete automation of a building. They do not require expensive programming, need little effort in operation, work strictly de-centralized and are maintenance-free. In illumination technology, they combine the convenience of lighting with the highest possible degree of energy saving.

They are suitable for all lamps operated with electronic dimmable ballasts, or transformers with a 1 -10V interface, as well as for all ALTENBURGER phase-control operated dimmers (incandescent lamps, high-voltage halogen lamps, L.V. halogen lamps with conventional transformers) or phase-interval controlled (L.V. halogen lamps with electronic transformers 230 V.)

The MS-LRS is suitable for use with illumination systems which cannot be dimmed.

The group of the components discussed below includes 6 devices, each with different functions:

MSD MULTI-SENSOR DIMMER:

Constant light control with presence detection and setting of target values on the device.

Multi-sensor-dimmers MSD and MSD-T have been designed to control light at the workplace
or for complete rooms.

 

FEATURES:

1 - 10 V interface to control dimmable electronic ballasts, transformers and dimmers.
Control of the light intensity in dependence of the daylight portion of natural light entering the room (constant light control.)
Switches off in case of sufficient daylight, or no presence detected in the room.
Switches on automatically in case of presence detection and too low a daylight portion of natural light entering the room.
Integrated switch output (5A.)
For the MSD, the required light value can be set directly on the unit itself, no other operating
elements need to be connected.

ADVANTAGES:

Can easily be integrated into existing lighting systems if using dimmable electronic ballasts.
No manual operation is necessary.
Can be used in rooms in which illumination is to remain constant.
Automatic presence recognition portion of the unit can be switched off.

 

MSD-T MULTI-SENSOR DIMMER:

Target values to be set externally with pushbutton control.
Constant light control with presence detection and pushbutton setting of target values.


FEATURES:

1 - 10 V interface to control dimmable electronic ballasts, transformers and dimmers.
Control of the light intensity in dependence of the daylight portion of natural light entering the room (constant light control.)
Switches off in case of sufficient daylight, or no presence detected in the room.
Switches on automatically in case of presence detection and too low a daylight portion of natural light entering the room.

For the MSD-T, the light value is set at a remote Pushbutton. This means that the set target value can be easily adjusted.

ADVANTAGES:

Manual alteration of the set target value, possible at any time.
Stored control value remains saved and is reset when the unit is switched on again.
For use in rooms where illumination levels are to be adjusted manually.
Automatic presence recognition portion of the unit can once again, be switched off.

 

MSL MULTI-SENSOR DIMMER:

Unit with light level reduction or switch function.
Sliding change of illumination with presence recognition, optional switch function in terms of
presence of persons and the intensity of the ambient light.

The MSL has been designed for control from a high lighting level, (when persons are present)
to a low lighting level (nobody present). Alternatively it can be used for presence dependent switching of lamps or other electrical devices.



 

FEATURES:

1 - 10 V output to control electronic dimmable ballasts, transformers and phase controlled or phase interval controlled dimmers.
Switch output (5A) for the direct switching of loads.

A specified light level, at which the lamps are not to switch on, can be pre-selected.
For the MSL, the required light value can be set directly on the unit itself, no other operating
element needs to be connected.

ADVANTAGES:

Can be integrated easily into existing lighting systems if using electronic dimmable ballasts.
No manual operation is necessary.
Can be used in rooms where no automatic switching off is required, and where a high level of illumination is required, in case of presence detection, e.g. in corridors, staircases, museums etc.
The switching function of the device can be used, to switch non-dimmable lights or other electrical devices.

 

MS-LRS MULTI-SENSOR DEVICE:

Multi-sensor device, with light value-control and switching function.
The Unit is specifically designed for presence and light value dependent switching of non-dimmable lighting systems.

The light value switch MS-LRS has been designed to switch a lighting system which is dependent on presence recognition and also on a specific presettable lighting intensity level.
 


FEATURES:

Switch output (5A) for direct switching of non-dimmed fluorescent lamps (with filament
transformers or non-dimmable electronic ballasts) as well as incandescent and halogen lamps.
Switches off if there is sufficient daylight or no presence.
Switches on in case of insufficient daylight or presence detection.
Automatic recognition of the lighting level.

Only the required switch-on value need be set.
The required light value can be either set at the device itself or by using an external target
value potentiometer.

Manual On / Off switching is possible using an external pushbutton.

ADVANTAGES:

Easy installation into existing illumination systems is possible.
No manual operation is necessary.
Can be used in rooms where illumination should not or cannot be dimmed, e.g. in foyers,
corridors, staircases, warehouses, indoor pools, outdoor areas, etc.
Can be used in existing illumination systems, to switch non-dimmed lights of any kind.

 

KBM PRESENCE DETECTOR & LIGHT AND MOTION SENSOR LBS/E:

Additional presence detection for multi-sensor components.

 


 

ADVANTAGES:

Additional switching contact (10A) with delay time setting after presence detection
Can be connected to all multi-sensor components. No additional presence detector, need be installed.
Can be used universally to also switch heaters, ventilators, air conditioners, etc.

 

MINI CONSTANTER:

The MINI-CONSTANTER - a constant light control - contains, in the smallest design:

Dimming Control Function.
A Photosensor which receives mixed light composed of daylight and artificial light.
The rated-value transmitter for the light value which is to be held constant.

 

FEATURES:

The device continuously compares the rated value with the actual value of the mixed light received from the Photosensor.
The daylight will be supplemented with only as much artificial light as is necessary to achieve the rated value.
The rated-value is adjusted directly on the MINI-CONSTANTER with a trimmer potentiometer. The adjustment is made visually; e.g. while the room is in complete darkness, the desired constant light value will be adjusted.

ADVANTAGES:

The MINI-CONSTANTER requires no special voltage supply. It is directly connected to an electronic dimmable ballast with 1-10V interface and takes its voltage from the electronic ballast. Thus, neither a separate power supply nor any additional wiring is required.

The MINI-CONSTANTER controls in dependence on the rated value, up to 100 single or twin ballasts with 1-10V interface for fluorescent lamps, compact lamps or low-voltage halogen lamps. The input terminals of the MINI-CONSTANTER are connected via a 2-wire bus, along with the controller inputs to a single one of the electronic ballasts on the same circuit.

THE MINI-CONSTANTER PROVIDES:

Energy optimization in lighting systems.
Constant light brightness in the room.
Simultaneous control of max. 100 single or twin ballasts.
Increased service life of fluorescent lamps.
Higher degree of luminous efficiency due to the use of electronic dimmable ballasts.
No change in degree of illumination caused by mains voltage fluctuations.
No malfunction caused by ripple-control signals.
No malfunction caused by harmonics.
Integration of the control circuit, the Photosensor and the rated-value setup in one small housing.
Extremely small design with provision for snapping directly onto fluorescent lamp tubes or compact lamps, for mounting on a lamp fixture or for the installation in ceilings, walls or movable lamps.
A built-in power section is not necessary. The MINI-CONSTANTER receives its control voltage from the control input of the electronic dimmable ballasts.
 

To determine the maximum number of lamps which can be controlled or dimmed, the following formula can be used:

   Max. current load of the low-voltage interface (50mA)    =    number of electronic ballasts
            Output current per electronic ballast                                     to be controlled
